Assignment 2

Develop Your Idea

I want to develop a portfolio to present my fashion work. It will be designed to introduce my strengths to brands and studios and spark new projects.

Discovery and Research

I'm creating a portfolio website that introduces my design practice through interactive storytelling. Visitors will explore my work via small, engaging interactions so it feels like a dialog with the designer. The homepage will feature a standout 3D piece to capture attention, while the structure stays organized and easy to navigate with clear paths to Collections, Process, Skills, and Contact. As a fashion student, my goal is to present the range of what I can do and make it effortless for brands and collaborators to evaluate my strengths and reach out.

Reference Sites

Xiaoke Song

I'm drawn to Xiaoke Song's personal site as a jewelry designer. You enter by clicking a circular badge with his name, and inside a paragraph hides clickable letters that open other sections. The neutral tone echoes the calm precision of his pieces, so the interactivity feels intentional rather than flashy. It's distinctive, engaging, and still easy to navigate.

ATELIER NARCE

I'm drawn to how their homepage gets straight to the point. It leads with a large photograph of a signature piece, followed by a concise intro. The rest of the sections are clearly labeled and easy to follow. Ample space and restrained typography make reading effortless. The design steps back so the work stays front and center. It's a great example of simplicity used with intention.

EJ SHEYANG

The homepage opens with a video that blends 3D modeling and live-action footage. The mix feels tactile and futuristic. It grabs attention immediately and pushes me to explore the brand. It also inspires my own approach: I'll feature one of my 3D pieces on the homepage as a motion-led hero, paired with clear copy and a “View Work” call to action.

Target Audience

My audience includes potential clients, brand and studio hiring teams, and anyone curious about my fashion work.

Inspiration and Concepts

I'm keeping the site calm and neutral so the work stays front and center. I'll weave in subtle references to religion and folk culture because those ideas ground my practice. Since I like to make chunky, dramatic jewelry, the design will lean on big, close-up images and simple, honest layouts that feel authentic. Guided by wabi-sabi, I'll let little imperfections show. Eye and hand motifs will appear as gentle wayfinders and small narrative moments. Overall, it's minimal and quiet, with a few bold highlights to match the energy of the pieces.
